The General Secretary of CATEM in Querétaro, Erik Osornio Medina, called on the mayor of Cadereyta de Montes, Astrid Ortega, to sit down with her team and the union to analyze the points of the petition from the Workers' Union at the service of the municipality of Cadereyta. The goal is to find common ground and solutions to avert the strike that has been affecting the municipality for over 15 days.
Osornio Medina recalled the support that CATEM provided at the time to the workers' union of Cadereyta, through the previous committee headed by General Secretary Jorge Enrique Díaz. On that occasion, dialogues and advanced agreements were held with then-mayor Miguel Martínez Peñaloza. The General Secretary emphasized the importance of the mayor addressing the workers' issue, stressing that the responsibility for resolving the situation lies with her, as the highest authority in the labor-employer relationship.
In this regard, Osornio Medina expressed CATEM's willingness to support the Cadereyta union in negotiations with municipal authorities. However, he stressed that it is essential for there to be political will from the municipal administration to engage in constructive dialogue and seek solutions. In the words of the General Secretary, "We offer to support the union in everything it needs, as a union organization, if they reach out to us, we will help them."
